BIO

Frances Valentine is an award winning Fine Art photographer based in Naarm/Melbourne whose practice centres around embodying the vibrancy of flowers in still life and the complexities of portraiture.

Her portraits have been among the finalists in the Olive Cotton Portraiture Award, and received a prize in Centre for Contemporary Photography Salon 2015.

Her Still Life has received prizes in Brunswick Street Gallery Salon 2016 as well as Centre for Contemporary Photography. Her Still Life can be seen at Mondopiero in Brunswick Street Fitzroy and in the Art Style Gallery in Surrey Hills, Victoria.

She is involved each year in Group Exhibitions at the Lyceum Club and the CCP Salon and Brunswick Street Gallery.

She is producing large format, limited edition prints as well as cards for all occasions.

Many of her works are concerned with flowers; large images of single flowers or several flowers. As Georgia O'Keeffe once said: "When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment."

Other works are portraits of people young and old, showing the eyes and the individuality of each face.

She is also concerned with issues of climate change and the environment. The series entitled Plastic Bags shows this every day item in its beauty as well as its ubiquity. The images suggest the danger lurking behind .
